About Cape Cod Sailing School and WindPath of Cape Cod

Founded in 2004, WindPath of Cape Cod is the first fractional sailing franchise to be developed on Cape Cod. Cape Cod Sailing School was founded in early 2009 as the only US SAILING certified sailing School on Cape Cod.

Mark Barrett

Mark Barrett, the founder of Cape Cod Sailing School and WindPath of Cape Cod, is a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain and a US SAILING certified instructor.  Born and brought up on the Connecticut shoreline of Long Island Sound, he went sailing for the first time at the age of nine and has been hooked ever since.  He has cruised extensively along the New England coast, both single-handed and with crew, in a multitude of boats ranging from 19 to 55 feet.

“I’m really proud to be associated with US SAILING and there is no doubt that we offer the best sailing courses in the industry.  Sailing is fun on so many levels.  There is an exhilarating, challenging and competitive side to it as well as a relaxing, calming and spiritual side – it’s whatever you want it to be.  Sailing is an activity you can enjoy alone or with your family and friends, and you can enjoy it for your entire lifetime.  And it’s easy, once you know the ropes!

“After working in boat yards for more than twenty years as a sailboat rigger and service technician, and transporting a great variety of boats as a delivery captain, I see my main job at WindPath as one of maintaining boats, rigs and all onboard systems in tip-top shape so our members and students can enjoy their time on the water without worrying about the equipment.  Also, I think it is crucial for me and our staff to remain available at all times for instruction, questions, support or help in any way.  We take care of the hassles, you concentrate on having fun and adventure out on the water!”
